Yelitza Smith is a self-taught author-illustrator of children's books that celebrate individuality, inclusion and joy. A former Head of English and Literacy Lead, Yelitza is an English teacher of over twenty years, working with hundreds of children across diverse inner-city communities. She draws inspiration directly from the children she meets, creating comical, energetic characters who reflect their voices, experiences and boundless imaginations. Yelitza is an award-winning Black Talent Award Solopreneur and a recipient of the Saluting Our Sisters Award from Sandwell Council, recognising her contribution to community building and her commitment to inspiring positive change through storytelling.
Big Cat Story Talk is a research-informed language programme that places books at the heart of every session.
