Zosia Zaks earned a Master of Science degree in technical journalism in 2000 from the Polytechnic University of NYU. Zaks conducts workshops nationally and consults on issues of importance to the autism community; advocates for policies that improve quality of life for autistic children and adults; and works as a rehabilitation counselor assisting disabled adults with integration into family, work, and community life. Zaks is also the parent of two special needs children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. She resides in Baltimore, Maryland.

In this rare look at the lives of parents on the autism spectrum across the globe, Zosia Zaks opens up a previously unexplored and often ignored world. The lives of autistic parents are not widely known or discussed, and yet their experiences are at the heart of today's most important autism issues. Blending commentary and interviews with autistic parents from different cultures and backgrounds, Zaks begins an exploration of how various factors help, hinder, or otherwise influence the parenting experience; makes suggestions for educating young people around salient family life issues; and provides professionals with fresh insights into the dynamics and needs of autistic families. This pioneering book will be a thought-provoking read for individuals on the spectrum, parents and professionals supporting them, and anyone interested in the controversial topic of autism and parenting.
